In
Residence
brings together a group of artists who have all undertaken a
residency at Griffin Gallery in the past two years. Although they each have
distinct practices and varying styles and concerns, they are unified in their
quest for further exploration and questions into the nature of paint as a
material, and through these enquiries have found themselves at Griffin Gallery
working with Laboratory technicians to get closer to the answers they
seek.

Window
Sill
takes its starting point from the aesthetic encountered in
‘seaside homes’ where often windows become impromptu displays for kitsch
ornaments, nostalgic memorabilia and domestic paraphernalia. In this latest
exhibition at Perimeter Space, its long window becomes lined with sculptures,
window stickers and glass hangings, blurring the meaning of sculptural objects
when (re)positioned in this way.

OPEN STUDIO | Ayelet Amrani
Navon

Wed 26 July,
5pm-8.30pm

During her Open Studio, Ayelet
Amrani Navon
will hold a collaborative performance in the Tent
installation she has been building in her studio. This performance will be
live streamed into the main gallery as part of In Residence exhibition.
Visitors to the studio are welcome to view a meaningful dialogue where
the rules of the ordinary world need not apply. Mint tea will be
served.

Also on view in the studio that
night will be outcomes of Ayelet’s experimentation with pigments,
preparation materials and body stamping. Made possible, in part, by the
privacy of the Tent.

OPEN STUDIO | Jose Luis
Valverde

Wed 26 July,
5pm-8.30pm

"‘The Garden’ is a
series of narrative paintings inspired by the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. I
am continuing my research into the still life genre, not only as a space to
experiment with painting, but as an added element to a scenario where things
occur. The project will be composed of small and large format oeuvres that
will initiate a dialogue, highlighting the arising para-textual
relationships."

All
welcome
