Dancing and Debuting at Root Division

Hi there,
Making sure that you're aware of Root Division's first ever evening of dance performances this August as part of the exhibition WILD, curated by Marisa Aragona. Featuring five contemporary dance groups ranging from modern, to hip hop and African influence, this free event offers a physical questioning of the impermanent nature of our wild world and bodies alongside a striking visual art exhibition.

More information on this event can be found in the full press release attached. Images available upon request.

I also wanted to offer a sneak peak at the list for Root Division's annual Introductions exhibitions.  Featuring the work of 12 emerging artists in the San Francisco Bay Area, Introductions 2017 offers exposure to the art community and beyond through public reception, and catalogue documentation.

Through a highly competitive review process this year's jurors -- Patricia Cariño Valdez, Curator and Director of Public Programs, San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, Kira Lyons, Director, Gallery Wendi Norris, and Hesse McGraw, Vice President for Exhibitions and Public Programs, San Francisco Art Institute -- selected twelve finalists from over 200 submissions based on the conceptual and formal strength of the work. The resulting exhibition includes diverse range of media and subject matter featuring painting, drawing, sculpture, video, photography, and performance.

Participating artists: Zulfikar Bhutto, Michelle Brandenmuhl, Natasha Carlos, Jamee Crusan, Heidi Holmes, Tania Houtzager, Alyssa Lempesis, Diana Li, Tana Quincy Arcega, Keyvan Shovir, Xiao Wang, and Minoosh Zomorodinia.
